A warm September day in Thiruvananthapuram. White clouds still in an indigo blue sky. After a long time, my daughter Nandita and I spent the whole day outdoors. Later in the evening Nandita baked a hot butter sponge cake in a loaf tin for my 71st birthday. I cut my birthday loaf, tucked into it accompanied by a steaming hot cup of tea just before midnight and the start of a new day.
